Getting started

About ReviewRentals

What is ReviewRentals?

ReviewRentals is a rental intelligence platform where renters can read and share structured reviews about real rental homes. Reviews focus on what listings usually miss: noise, maintenance, utility costs, fees, and what it was actually like to live there.

Who is ReviewRentals for?

It is built for renters researching a new home and for renters who want to help the next person avoid moving in blind. Property managers and landlords can also use ReviewRentals to understand reported renter concerns, but the platform is renter-first.

Is ReviewRentals affiliated with landlords or listing platforms?

No. ReviewRentals is independent. Content reflects user opinions and firsthand rental experiences, not landlord marketing or listing-platform copy.

Is ReviewRentals free to use?

Yes. Searching, reading reviews, saving properties, comparing properties, and submitting reviews are free.

Sharing your experience

Submitting reviews

How do I submit a review?

Start from Submit Review, choose the property or address, add your rental details and ratings, write the short experience prompts, then enter your email. Clicking the verification link sent to your inbox confirms your email address and sends the review into admin moderation.

Do I need an account before submitting?

No upfront password is required. Email verification confirms your email and sends the review into admin moderation. After that, you can optionally set a password if you want to secure the account and manage reviews from your profile.

Why should I set a password?

A password lets you sign back in, manage your reviews, and use account-backed features such as saved properties across signed-in sessions.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification helps prevent spam and confirms that the submitter controls the email address. Review verification links expire after 30 minutes, and you can request a new link if needed.

Can I edit a review?

If a review is rejected, you can edit and resubmit it from your profile. For other changes or correction requests, contact ReviewRentals support at hello@reviewrentals.ca.

Can I review the same property more than once?

ReviewRentals checks for possible duplicate reviews and may warn you if you appear to have already reviewed the same property or unit. If you need to correct an existing review, use your profile when available or contact support.

Trust and badges

Verification

Are all reviews lease-verified?

No. Every review must be email-verified before it enters admin review, but residency or document verification is optional and may not be available in every review flow. Reviews with approved proof can show a verified-resident badge.

What does “verified” mean?

There are two different checks: email verification confirms the submitter controls the email address, while optional residency verification can add a verified-resident trust signal when supporting proof is submitted and approved through an available verification flow. Publication still depends on admin approval.

Do I have to upload a lease or document?

No. You can submit an email-verified review without a lease or document. Proof-of-residency verification is optional, and availability may vary as ReviewRentals expands that feature.

Are verification documents shown publicly?

No. If you submit proof for residency verification, those documents are not displayed on public review pages. Public pages show the review content, ratings, and badge status, not private proof documents.

Saved properties and accounts

How do saved properties work?

You can save properties while browsing by using the heart option. If you are not signed in, saved properties stay in your current browser. When you are signed in, saved properties are tied to your account so you can access them in signed-in sessions.

Where do I find my saved properties?

Open Saved from the navigation menu to see the properties you have saved, remove properties from the list, or jump back to a property page for details.

Your information

Privacy and anonymity

Will landlords see my identity?

ReviewRentals does not share your email or account identity with landlords. Public reviews are designed around the rental experience, not the reviewer's identity. ReviewRentals still collects some information, such as email, to verify and operate the service.

What personal information does ReviewRentals collect?

ReviewRentals may collect account information, email verification data, review content, saved properties, authentication data, and optional verification documents. The Privacy Policy explains the full list and how the data is used.

Where is my data stored?

ReviewRentals uses cloud infrastructure providers that may store and process data in the United States with contractual and technical safeguards. See the Privacy Policy for the cross-border transfer disclosure.

How do I request access, correction, or deletion?

Email hello@reviewrentals.ca for privacy requests, account deletion, access, or correction. Include enough context for support to identify the relevant account or review.

Keeping reviews useful

Moderation, reporting, and fairness

What rules should I follow when writing a review?

Write from firsthand experience, stay truthful and good-faith, focus on the property and rental experience, and avoid private personal information or unsupported claims. The Terms of Service include the detailed review rules.

Are reviews checked before publishing?

Reviews go through admin moderation before publication. Email verification helps confirm the submitter controls the email address, but it does not publish the review on its own.

How do I report a review?

Use the flag/report option on a review where available, or email hello@reviewrentals.ca with the property, review details, and your concern. Flagged reviews may be hidden, reviewed, edited, rejected, or removed if they violate the rules.

Can landlords or property managers respond?

ReviewRentals does not currently promise a public landlord-response workflow. Property managers, landlords, or affected parties can report concerns through the flag option or by contacting support.

Is the legal information on ReviewRentals legal advice?

No. Legal information on ReviewRentals is general context only and is not legal advice. If you receive legal threats or have legal concerns about a review, consult a lawyer.

Still have questions?

Email support for help with reviews, verification, privacy requests, or reporting a concern.
